About St Brigid's Catholic Church, Oldcastle
St Brigid's Catholic Church, Oldcastle was built in 1899. It has a cruciform plan, built of limestone under a pitched slate roof. Notable features include a three-stage bell tower with a broach spire, stained-glass windows and buttressed walls.
History
W. H. Byrne designed the church and Mr P. Nolan carried out the building work. It replaced an earlier church dating from 1815, and its foundation stone was laid on 15 October 1899.
