About Meenglass The Ascension
Meenglass The Ascension is a Church of Ireland church in Meenglass, County Donegal. It is one of the churches in the parish of Stranorlar, in the Diocese of Derry & Raphoe.
History
The present church replaces an earlier church on the same site which was destroyed by storms in the 1960s. The parish describes it as the youngest of the three church buildings in the group, and records that it would formerly have been the estate church for Lord Lifford.
The trees adjacent to the church were felled in 2018, opening a view over the Finn valley towards the towns of Ballybofey and Stranorlar.
