About Stranorlar
Stranorlar was built between 1729 and 1733. It has a cruciform plan with a three-bay nave and rendered walls under a pitched artificial slate roof. Notable features include a bell tower, stained-glass windows, an internal gallery and window tracery.
History
The church was extended in 1863 and 1897, with the chancel and transepts added in 1863 by Fraser, Ferguson & Fraser. The tower was apparently completed in 1897. Isaac Butt, founder of the Irish Home Rule Party, is buried in the graveyard.
