About Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Glenfin

Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Glenfin was built between 1925 and 1928. It has a cruciform plan with a four-bay nave under a pitched slate roof. Notable features include an internal gallery, a marble altar and an open timber roof. It was designed by John Valentine Brennan.

History

Thomas McDonald and Sons of Dundalk were the main contractors. The foundation stone was blessed and laid on 27 September 1925 by William Mac Nelly, and the church replaced an earlier T-plan chapel recorded as extant in 1836.
