About Church of Mary Immaculate, Stranorlar
Church of Mary Immaculate, Stranorlar was built between 1857 and 1862. It has a six-bay nave, built of squared sandstone under a pitched artificial slate roof. Notable features include a three-stage tower, stained-glass windows, an open timber roof and pinnacles.
History
The present church replaced an earlier Catholic church at the north end of Chapel Lane, which was demolished after the replacement was completed. Works in 1896 included installation of an altar, while a new floor and repairs followed in 1911.
