About St. Patrick’s Church, Nohoval
St. Patrick’s Church, Nohoval was built in 1950. It has a five-bay nave, built of stone under a pitched artificial slate roof. Notable features include stained-glass windows, a bellcote and mosaic work.
The building
St Patrick’s Church is a freestanding gable-fronted structure built in 1950 on the footprint of an earlier church. The five-bay nave features single-bay confessionals to the east and west, a chancel to the south, and a sacristy to the west. Coursed stone block walls are detailed with tooled quoins, dressed stone buttresses, and a limestone commemorative plaque. The front elevation includes a recessed pointed arch window and seven round-headed stained glass windows with plate tracery. A mosaic depicting the dates 1842 and 1950 adorns the lintel of the main entrance, which is surmounted by a projecting concrete canopy.
