About Sacred Heart Church, Belgooly
Sacred Heart Church, Belgooly was built around 1910. It has a three-bay nave, built of squared limestone. Notable features include stained-glass windows, a bellcote and a marble altar.
The building
The freestanding gable-fronted structure features pitched copper clad roofs and a rendered bellcote topped by a steel cruciform finial. A concrete corbel on the front elevation supports a statue and canopy, while the interior contains an exposed timber trussed roof springing from moulded rendered corbels. The site is enclosed by rusticated concrete walls with wrought-iron double-leaf gates.
