About St Columba, Kilbeacanty
St Columba, Kilbeacanty dates from 1839. It has a cruciform plan with a four-bay nave and rendered walls under a pitched slate roof. Notable features include a four-stage tower, an internal gallery, carved Stations of the Cross and an open timber roof.
History
The present church replaced a small T-plan thatched chapel on the same site. The interior retains a cast-iron rail to the gallery and painted Stations of the Cross, while the transept arcades are carried on fluted polished-granite columns with moulded capitals.
