About Sacred Heart Church, Lisavaird
Sacred Heart Church, Lisavaird was built around 1820. It has a five-bay nave and rendered walls under a pitched slate roof. Notable features include stained-glass windows, a bellcote and an internal gallery.
The building
The freestanding double-height structure includes a later single-bay sacristy to the east, a west porch, and recent single-storey rear additions. Inside, a panelled battened timber ceiling covers a central polychrome tiled aisle and a carved timber gallery resting on octagonal-profile columns. A raised white marble altar with red marble colonettes stands before a plaster reredos featuring fleur-de-lis motifs, while an enclosed graveyard occupies the northern boundary.
