About Holy Trinity, Dromin
Holy Trinity, Dromin was built in 1828. It has a cruciform plan with a three-bay nave and rendered walls under a pitched slate roof. Notable features include stained-glass windows, a bellcote and a marble altar.
The building
Designed in a restrained Gothic Revival style, the church is typical of pre-Emancipation structures in Ireland. It was renovated in 1901, retaining features such as the slate roof with cast-iron ridge crestings and limestone Doric columns supporting the transept arcade. The interior also includes a timber queen post truss ceiling and a marble reredos.
