About Kilmallock St Peter & St Paul (Deebert)
Kilmallock St Peter & St Paul (Deebert) was built in 1938 in the Romanesque Revival style. It has a four-bay nave, built of brick under a hipped slate roof. Notable features include a two-stage tower and stained-glass windows. It was designed by George Frederick Hicks.
History
The church was consecrated on 29 June 1938, replacing a previous structure destroyed by arson on 22 July 1935. It was built by John Cleary of Charleville. The building features a canted chancel, gable-fronted transepts, and a square-profile stepped two-stage tower with a cast-iron weather vane. Red brick garden bond walls include stepped consoles and raised panels, while round-headed openings contain stained glass.
