About Franciscan Abbey
Franciscan Abbey dates from 1849. It has a four-bay nave, built of squared limestone under a pitched slate roof. Notable features include a bell tower, stained-glass windows, an internal gallery and an organ.
Notable features
The interior includes carved piscinae and angel masks, a Corinthian reredos and shrines. Ornamental plasterwork is also recorded around the dome and colonnade.
