About Church of the Immaculate Conception, Drumraney
Church of the Immaculate Conception, Drumraney was built between 1850 and 1860. It has a T-shaped plan with a three-bay nave under a pitched slate roof. Notable features include buttressed walls and lancet windows.
History
John Bourke designed the present church, which was built on or incorporates fabric from an earlier Catholic chapel. Parish records identify a chapel at Drumraney by 1807, and both the 1838 Ordnance Survey map and Lewis’s 1837 account show a church on the site.
