About Church of the Immaculate Conception, Forgney

Church of the Immaculate Conception, Forgney was built around 1830. It has a cruciform plan with a two-bay nave and pebbledashed walls under a pitched slate roof. Notable features include stained-glass windows, an internal gallery and a marble altar.

History

The church was extensively altered around 1909, when a chancel was added at the east end. A modern graveyard was established around 1917, replacing an earlier burial ground located to the south-west.
