About Church of the Assumption, Templeorum
Church of the Assumption, Templeorum was built in 1810 in the Classical style. It has a five-bay nave under a pitched slate roof. Notable features include stained-glass windows, a bellcote and an internal gallery.
The building
The church was rebuilt in 1929 in a Gothic style, retaining fabric from an earlier chapel constructed 1810/2-4. The five-bay nave sits under a pitched slate roof and features a cut-limestone bellcote, pointed-arch windows with Y-mullions, and leaded stained glass. Inside, fluted Corinthian columns support a timber gallery, while a barrel-vaulted ceiling and Classical-style reredos complete the interior, and the adjoining graveyard holds cut-stone markers dating from after 1812.
