About Fiddown (Piltown)
Fiddown (Piltown) was built between 1859 and 1862 in the Gothic Revival style. The church is built of squared stone under a pitched slate roof. Notable features include stained glass including a rose window, a bellcote and mosaic work.
Notable people
The church was built for John Ponsonby, fifth Earl of Bessborough, to designs by George Edmund Street. The stained glass panels were executed by Thomas Figgis Curtis, Thomas Ward and the Henry Hughes Studio.
