About Arvagh (Arva)
Arvagh (Arva) was built in 1819 in the Gothic Revival style. It has an L-shaped plan with a three-bay nave and rendered walls under a pitched slate roof. Notable features include a three-stage bell tower, stained-glass windows, crenellated parapets and window tracery.
History
This Church of Ireland building was constructed in 1819 with financial support from the Board of First Fruits, which provided a gift of £900 and a loan of £100. It was probably designed by Johm Bowden. The structure features a later north transept addition, which represents a variation on the standard hall and tower church form sponsored by the Board during this period.
