About Aghour St Lachtan (Freshford)
Aghour St Lachtan (Freshford) was built in 1730. The church is built of rubble stone under a pitched slate roof. Notable features include stained-glass windows, a bellcote and an internal gallery.
History
The church incorporates fabric from a medieval abbey, c.750, and a Romanesque doorcase from 1133. It continues a long-standing ecclesiastical presence on the site, attributed to an abbey or monastery founded by Saint Lachtain (d. 622) in the sixth century. The building underwent renovation in 2004.
