About St Brigid, Lisdowney
St Brigid, Lisdowney was built in 1840. It has a cruciform plan with a three-bay nave. Notable features include stained-glass windows, an internal gallery and buttressed walls.
The building
The church features a Classically-inspired sacristy and presbytery attached to the east. The west front displays Tudor-headed niches that may have originally been door openings, with pointed-arch niches above that may have been windows. Interior elements include a tooled carved cut-limestone stoup, cut-stone wall monuments dated 1834 and 1855, and timber pews with herring-bone pattern flooring in the aisle.
