About Tomregan (Ballyconnell)
Tomregan (Ballyconnell) was built in 1756 in the Gothic Revival style. The church is built of squared sandstone under a hipped artificial slate roof. Notable features include a three-stage bell tower, stained-glass windows, an internal gallery and pinnacles. The church stands in its own graveyard.
History
Built in 1756 under the patronage of George Leslie Montgomery, the church was extended and refenstrated in the Gothic Revival style around 1820. The interior furnishings, including the seating, pulpit, and reading desk, are thought to be additions by architect Joseph Welland. This layering of building phases results in a mix of classical and Gothic Revival features.
