About St. Patrick's, Kilnavart
St. Patrick's, Kilnavart was built in 1868 in the Gothic Revival style. It has a five-bay nave, built of squared sandstone under a pitched slate roof. Notable features include a bell tower, an internal gallery, window tracery and buttressed walls.
History
Designed by architect William Hague, this church replaced an earlier structure on the site. It was completed in 1868, the same year as Saint Patrick's Catholic Church in Milltown and five years after Saint Aidan’s in Butlersbridge. Unusually for rural Catholic churches, it is orientated liturgically east-west, resulting in the large chancel window facing the road rather than the main entrance.
