About Taunagh (Riverstown)
Taunagh (Riverstown) was built around 1817. It has a three-bay nave and rendered walls under a pitched slate roof. Notable features include a two-stage tower, stained-glass windows, crenellated parapets and pinnacles.
The building
This Church of Ireland church features a two-stage tower with flanking wings attached to the west gable. The structure includes round-headed ashlar limestone blank niches, a pedimented string course, and four-centred-arched belfry openings with painted timber louvres. The crenellated parapet is defined by a platband supported by plain corbels, with corners crowned by dressed stone pinnacles. The west face displays an oculus window above a recessed entrance with a fifteen-panel door and fanlight dating from c. 2000.
