About Taghmon St Munnu
Taghmon St Munnu was built between 1818 and 1819. It has a simple single-cell form and rendered walls under a pitched slate roof. Notable features include a three-stage tower, an internal gallery, pinnacles and lancet windows.
Notable people
The church contains a wall monument commemorating Reverend Henry Francis Lyte (1793-1847), author of 'Abide With Me'. It also features restrained wall monuments for the O'Grady family of Plattinstown House and the Stannards of Bricketstown House. The interior improvements are attributed to Daniel Cullimore of Monkstown, Co. Dublin.
