About Horetown St James
Horetown St James was built between 1856 and 1859. It has a five-bay nave, built of squared sandstone under a pitched slate roof. Notable features include stained-glass windows, a bellcote and buttressed walls.
Notable features
The church features a thirteenth-century French Gothic-style Trinity Window presented by H. and E. Howland of New York in 1858. Interior elements include a quatrefoil-detailed baptismal font, an octagonal Gothic-style pulpit, and a reclaimed 1789 monument to Elizabeth and Sir John Tottenham. The building also contains marble monuments commemorating the Suttons of Longgraigue House and Edward Owen Fortescue Stronge of Raheenduff House.
