About St Thomas’ Church
St Thomas’ Church was built between 1811 and 1812. It has a cruciform plan under a pitched slate roof. Notable features include stained-glass windows, an internal gallery and mosaic work.
Notable features
The church features a trefoil-detailed arcaded timber choir gallery and Gothic-style timber memorial stations donated in 1951 by Ellen Keane. Stained glass includes the Cullen Memorial East Window of 1943, attributed to Richard Joseph King and supplied by Harry Clarke Studios, alongside works by Walter F. Clokey. The interior also contains a mosaic-tiled marble memorial altar and tessellated glazed terracotta tiled central aisle.
