History
The parish church at Foxford was built in 1879. Major renovations were carried out in 1961 and 1962, and on 27 September 1962 Bishop James Fergus re-dedicated the church to St Michael the Archangel.
Foxford, traditionally known as Toomore, lies in east Mayo, with the river Moy forming the western boundary of the parish. Alongside the church at Foxford, the parish contains the church at Attymachugh on the north side, which was originally a primary school, and the Church of the Assumption in Toomore to the east. The parish also contains a convent chapel built by the Sisters of Charity in 1925.
