About St. Michael The Archangel – Aglish, Borrisokane
St. Michael The Archangel – Aglish, Borrisokane was built in 1893. It has a cruciform plan, built of limestone under a pitched artificial slate roof. Notable features include a three-stage bell tower with a spire, stained-glass windows, pinnacles and buttressed walls.
History
St Michael's in Aglish, Co. Tipperary, replaces an earlier church that was sited further west in the village and no longer stands. The current structure was built in 1893 as a freestanding cruciform-plan Catholic church. It serves as a landmark in the small village, which is otherwise composed of modest domestic buildings.
