About Borrisokane
Borrisokane was built in 1812. The church has a pitched artificial slate roof. Notable features include a three-stage bell tower, crenellated parapets, pinnacles and buttressed walls.
The building
This freestanding Board of First Fruits Church of Ireland church was built in 1812. It features a three-stage bell tower to the west end, a vestry to the southeast corner, and a boiler house to the northeast corner. The structure has pebble-dashed walls with smooth render plinths and cut limestone crenellations, pinnacles, and string courses. Lancet and double-light lancet windows with traceried small-pane timber sliding sash windows are fixed to the tower and vestry, while fifteen-over-fifteen pane windows serve the nave. Timber battened doors, including one with a cut limestone surround to the vestry, provide access. Cut limestone gate piers and cast-iron gates enclose the graveyard.
