About Borrisokane Methodist Church
Borrisokane Methodist Church was built in 1868. It has a simple single-cell form, built of rubble limestone under a pitched slate roof. Notable features include stained glass including a rose window, an internal gallery and lancet windows.
The building
The church features a vestry and later meeting hall to the west. The pitched slate roof has decorative cresting and cut limestone coping with finials. Rubble limestone walls are detailed with quoins and hood-mouldings. The front gable contains a traceried rose window of four quatrefoils. Internally, a gallery with a carved front overlooks the entrance, beneath an exposed braced timber collared truss roof.
