About St Michael, Crosspatrick
St Michael, Crosspatrick was built in 1832. It has a simple single-cell form and rendered walls under a pitched slate roof. Notable features include stained-glass windows, an internal gallery and crenellated parapets.
The building
The freestanding belfry to the west is pre-1832 and probably originally the bell tower of an earlier church. It features random rubble limestone walls with dressed quoins, square-headed slit apertures, and quatrefoil openings beneath a battlemented parapet. The church itself was built in 1832 and extensively renovated post-1965, incorporating replacement roughcast walls and timber eaves.
