About St Kieran’s, Johnstown
St Kieran’s, Johnstown dates from 1831. It has a cruciform plan with a three-bay nave under a pitched slate roof. Notable features include stained-glass windows, a bellcote and an internal gallery.
History
An inscription records the church as built by Reverend Thomas Brenan. It was later almost entirely reconstructed to designs by Simon Aloysius Leonard; a west window and a font were reclaimed from medieval Fertagh Abbey.
