About St/ Mary's Raheen
St/ Mary's Raheen was built in 1935. It has a seven-bay nave and rendered walls under a pitched slate roof. Notable features include stained-glass windows and lancet windows.
History
Designed by architect P.J. Foyle and supervised by Fr. Luke Byrne, the church was constructed at a cost of ten thousand pounds. It replaced an earlier chapel situated on the opposite side of the Tullamore to Portarlington Road. A plaque records the dedication ceremony on 17th March 1935, and a graveyard lies to the east of the site.
