About Geashill St Mary
Geashill St Mary was built in 1814. It has a three-bay nave and pebbledashed walls. Notable features include a tower, stained-glass windows, an internal gallery and window tracery. The church stands in its own graveyard.
The building
The building is a detached Board of First Fruits Church of Ireland church featuring a gabled apse, a three-staged castellated tower to the west, a north vestry and a crypt. An eighteenth-century stone plaque at the main entrance commemorates former rector Rev. Digby. The interior contains king post trusses, timber pews and an ornate organ, while the surrounding graveyard is bounded by random coursed walls with ashlar gate piers and contains a mausoleum.
