About St Joseph’s Church, Ballinagar
St Joseph’s Church, Ballinagar was built in 1837. It has a four-bay nave and rendered walls. Notable features include a three-stage tower, pinnacles and window tracery.
History
The church burned in February 2003, destroying its roof and internal fittings and fixtures while the tower and walls survived. The 1837 building had replaced a thatched chapel on the same site that served the local Catholic community during the Penal era.
