About ST. Mary's Church, Edenderry
ST. Mary's Church, Edenderry was built in 1916 in the Hiberno-Romanesque style. It has a cruciform plan, built of limestone under a pitched slate roof. Notable features include a three-stage tower, stained-glass windows and mosaic work.
Notable people
The church was designed by William Scott, a leading Arts and Crafts designer of his day. Its construction is associated with the determination of the parish priest, Fr Paul Murphy, and the building was conceived alongside the neighbouring convent.
