About St Brigid’s Church, Clogherinkoe
St Brigid’s Church, Clogherinkoe was built between 1861 and 1862 in the Gothic Revival style. It has a five-bay nave and a three-stage west tower with a cut-stone spire, built of cut stone. Notable features include trefoil-headed windows with stained glass, an exposed timber roof and original carved marble altar furniture.
The building
The church features a single-bay double-height lower chancel with a gabled sacristy projection to the south-east. The west tower is three-stage on a square plan, topped by a cut-stone spire with oculus windows and an iron cross finial. Exterior details include broken coursed cut-stone walls, quoins, and intermediary buttresses. The entrance comprises a pointed-arch door opening with a cut-stone doorcase and hood moulding over a timber panelled door.
