About St. Mary's Church, Carrigtwohill
St. Mary's Church, Carrigtwohill was built around 1880. The church is built of squared sandstone under a pitched slate roof. Notable features include stained glass including a rose window, a bellcote and an internal gallery.
History
The site has been used for religious and secular purposes since medieval times. A medieval church and a fifteenth-century tower house stand to the east, and evidence that the present church incorporates material from a previous structure.
