About Sacred Heart Church, Ballymore

Sacred Heart Church, Ballymore was built around 1810. It has a four-bay nave and rendered walls under a pitched slate roof. Notable features include stained-glass windows, a bellcote and an internal gallery.

The building

The freestanding gable-fronted structure features a lower gabled entrance porch to the west and a gabled chancel to the east. A single-bay sacristy with a hipped slate roof extends from the north elevation, while a lean-to is attached to the south. The site is enclosed by rendered boundary walls with entrance piers topped by cross finials and carved limestone plaques, leading to a wrought-iron double-leaf gate.
