About St. Mary's Church, Cahir
St. Mary's Church, Cahir dates from 1839. It has a cruciform plan with a two-bay nave, built of rubble sandstone. Notable features include a three-stage tower, stained-glass windows, an internal gallery and crenellated parapets.
The building
The transept porches have pseudo-three-centred entrance arches with chamfered surrounds and glazed double doors beneath overlights. A shouldered sacristy entrance has a dressed-limestone surround, and an organ was installed in the interior around 1850.
