About Our Lady of the Assumption, Kilmoyler
Our Lady of the Assumption, Kilmoyler was built in 1805 in the Gothic Revival style. It has a cruciform plan and rendered walls under a pitched slate roof. Notable features include stained-glass windows, an internal gallery and window tracery.
The building
The building was remodelled and extended c. 1860, adding a single-bay nave, north and south transepts, and a twentieth-century sacristy extension to the east end. A square-plan tower stands at the north-west corner, while a statue of the Virgin Mary sits at the gable-front apex. The interior contains an ornate Gothic canopy over the altar, flanking doors with trefoil motifs, and a nave gallery with cast-iron railings.
