About St John the Baptist, Kilburn
St John the Baptist, Kilburn dates from 1832 and is built in the Gothic Revival style. It has a single-cell plan with a five-bay nave and rendered walls under a pitched slate roof. Notable features include stained-glass windows, an internal gallery and buttressed walls.
Notable people
Father Con Scully, parish priest of Ballyclough and Kilbrin, built this church. The structure is prominently sited on an incline, presenting a strong silhouette in the landscape. It features a freestanding bell tower to the west and a boundary defined by square-profile cut limestone piers with carved caps and double-leaf cast-iron gates set in rubble sandstone walls.
