About St. John the Baptist Church, Kilcash
St. John the Baptist Church, Kilcash was built around 1820. It has a cruciform plan with a two-bay nave, built of squared sandstone under a pitched slate roof. Notable features include stained-glass windows, a bellcote and window tracery.
The building
Alterations around 1885 reoriented the church, adding a gable-fronted porch and lean-to sacristy to the east elevation. The interior features a timber scissors-truss roof and galleries in the transepts. The site includes a lawned graveyard with pebbledashed boundary walls, wrought-iron gates, and concrete paths incised with decorative motifs.
