About St. Mary's Church, Kilsheelan
St. Mary's Church, Kilsheelan was built around 1835. It has a cruciform plan with a three-bay nave, built of squared limestone under a pitched slate roof. Notable features include a bell tower, stained-glass windows and an internal gallery.
Notable features
Round-headed arches are used throughout rather than the pointed forms more commonly associated with nineteenth-century Gothic church design. Inside, round-plan columns support arcades to the transepts and render roll mouldings frame those arches.
