About St. Agatha
St. Agatha was built between 1875 and 1910 in the Baroque style. The church is built of squared limestone. Notable features include stained-glass windows, a bellcote and carved Stations of the Cross.
The building
Designed by architect W.H. Byrne, the church was begun in 1878 and not completed until 1908. The protracted building history of thirty years is attributed to the constricted back-street site. The interior retains its original form, character and function, featuring altar furniture dating to the 1940s.
