About Saints Peter and Paul
Saints Peter and Paul was built between 1914 and 1916. It has a six-bay nave, built of squared limestone under a pitched slate roof. Notable features include stained-glass windows, a bellcote and an internal gallery.
The building
Designed in 1913 by William Henry Byrne and Son of Dublin, the church was dedicated in 1916. It features a rectilinear plan with rock-faced limestone walls and limestone dressings. The interior retains original fabric including a timber organ gallery, encaustic tiled floors, and an exposed timber roof construction. The Canning Memorial East Window was ordered in 1915 from Joshua Clarke and Sons.
