About Saint James's Church, Carracastle
Saint James's Church, Carracastle was built in 1877. It has a cruciform plan with a four-bay nave, built of squared stone under a pitched slate roof. Notable features include stained-glass windows, a bellcote and buttressed walls.
History
The sanctuary was reordered during renovations in 1970. The Gothic-style altar was consecrated in 1884 by Reverend Francis McCormack, Bishop of Achonry, who lived from 1833 to 1909.
