About Immaculate Conception
Immaculate Conception dates from 1859. It has a six-bay nave, built of rubble stone under a pitched slate roof. Notable features include a two-stage tower, stained-glass windows, an internal gallery and pinnacles.
The building
Designed in 1852 by John Sterling Butler, this detached eight-bay church was dedicated in 1859. It features a six-bay nave and two-bay chancel with a south-west tower. The structure is built of rubble stone with limestone dressings and includes stained glass, a timber choir gallery, and a marble altar attributed to Rudolph Maximilian Butler or William Henry Byrne and Son.
