About Saint Anne, Ballycloughan
Saint Anne, Ballycloughan was built around 1862. It has a seven-bay nave, built of squared limestone under a pitched slate roof. Notable features include stained-glass windows, crenellated parapets and lancet windows. It was designed by John Bourke.
History
Designed by John Bourke, this Roman Catholic church was built c. 1862 at an expected cost of £650. It stands just north of the site of an earlier T-plan chapel, which was demolished by c. 1913. The building is unusual for its period in lacking an attached bell tower or bellcote, instead featuring a freestanding wrought-iron and steel belfry to the northwest.
