About St Mary’s Church, Moydow
St Mary’s Church, Moydow was built around 1840. It has a cruciform plan with a two-bay nave and pebbledashed walls under a pitched slate roof. Notable features include stained-glass windows, a bellcote and window tracery.
History
St Mary’s Church in Moydow, Co. Cavan, replaced an earlier Roman Catholic church located to the north, as shown on the 1838 Ordnance Survey map. The current building was probably originally constructed as a T-plan chapel around 1840, with the chancel added later, perhaps at the end of the nineteenth century. The interior was reordered c. 1970, and modern stained glass fittings in the entrance gable were probably added at this time.
