About Saint Mary, Legan
Saint Mary, Legan was built around 1835. It has a cruciform plan with a three-bay nave and rendered walls under a pitched slate roof. Notable features include stained-glass windows, a bellcote and an internal gallery.
The building
The church is a freestanding Roman Catholic structure with roughcast rendered walls and cast-iron rainwater goods. It features pointed arch lancet windows with stained glass lattice and a timber A-frame roof. The interior includes a pointed chancel arch with Corinthian style pilasters and a gallery supported on a cast-iron column. The site is bounded by rendered and exposed rubble stone walls with wrought-iron gates.
